This logical reasoning puzzle for kids comes from the creators of the Logic Square, Magic Square, Magic Triangle, Pair Pattern, Multiplication Kakuro and Find the Sign – puzzles that hone your child’s logical reasoning abilities, spatial reasoning skills and calculation skills.
Shikaku helps honing your logical and spatial reasoning skills. Our Shikaku app features unlimited number of Shikaku puzzles, which is different from most other Shikaku apps which give you only a limited number with pre-fed designs.
Our aim was to make Shikaku puzzles of appropriate difficulty for kids 6-15 years of age, to hone their logical reasoning skills. However, this is a puzzle even adults might enjoy solving in their spare time!
The rules are simple. Some cells have a clue number. The whole grid will have to be divided into some rectangles (or squares). Each rectangle should contain one and only one clue number inside it and that clue number denotes how many small boxes are contained within that rectangle. For a more visual explanation, download the app, and look at the help page.
This puzzle is good for classroom usage too. Made by the creators of the award-winning Levelfield School, they are extensively used in primary grade math classes there. Not only they have proved enormously effective in improving the logical reasoning skills of children, they’re fun as well.
There are unlimited number of exercises. You can monitor your child’s accuracy and average time taken to solve sums in each difficulty level. The badge system (silver, gold, platinum) provides a quick preview of your child’s progress.
This app is free. If you like this app, support us by buying our other logical math apps and foundational learning apps available in iTunes.
